We are hosting an Equine First Aid training course on Saturday February, 16 from 9am to 4pm. Equine First Aid is the first treatment available to a horse before a veterinarian can attend to the animal. This course is hands-on with horses and cover. You will learn how to prepare, how to react, and how to handle equine emergency situations while waiting for you vet to arrive.
The course covers:
- Lacerations
- Casting
- How to flush foreign bodies out of eyes
- What to do about hoof puncture wounds, thrush, scratches, abscess, white line
- Digestive emergencies : colic, collapse, choke
- How to take your horse’s vital signs to assist the veterinarian in response
- How you can detect and ease pain in your horses back
- How to weigh your horse so you don’t over/under dose him without a weight tape
- And much more!
All attendees will receive a framed certificate of completion, first aid manual, and vital signs normal/abnormal barn card.
The cost of the course is $165. The fee includes all course materials and the certificate of completion. You can either sign up in the lounge or email our Barn manager,
